Air Waybill (AWB)

Air waybills are the documents that accompany shipments to be transported by air.

Air Waybill (AWB) An air waybill, or AWB, is a document that is issued by a carrier when goods are transported by air. It acts as delivery instructions, a contract of carriage, and a cargo receipt for airfreight. When an AWB is issued for an air shipment, it includes the name of the shipper and consignee; details about the type of goods being shipped; the weight and dimensions; information about how the goods will be loaded onto an airplane; the date and place of departure from origin; and other specific details related to the shipment. The carrier must also provide a signature block at the end of the document that says they have received payment in full for all charges incurred through this document.
